Keep it Safe 2021
The start to the working year was slightly different in 2022, due to the annual NZFM SafeStart breakfast not being held because of Covid-19 restrictions. This is the first time since its inception that SafeStart has been cancelled and while NZFM was disappointed, we recognise the importance of keeping everyone safe and healthy in these Covid-19 uncertain times.
A regular item at the SafeStart breakfast is awarding prizes to the annual Keep It Safe (KIS) winners.
KEEP IT SAFE is an employment enhancement programme developed and introduced by NZFM logging contractors who fund and obtain sponsorship for prizes. It involves regular assessments of employees by a FITEC registered trainer, who works with NZFM harvesting and thinning crews. Awards are presented every three months, with the overall winner announced at the end of each calendar year and presented with awards at the NZFM SafeStart breakfast.
The overall winners for 2021 were:
Machine Operation on the Landing: Ron Clark
Logmaking: Jeremy Dunster
Mechanised Felling/Delimbing : Des Church
Skidwork: David August & Derek Robinson (1st equal)
Log Extraction: Peter Corfield
Manual Fellin : Alby Wheatly & Moana Te Ngahue (1st equal)
NZFM Harvesting Crew of the Year 2021 : C. & C.A. Marshall Logging Ltd
Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who took part in Keep It Safe in 2021.
